Hostel Services
We provide 17 bed accommodation for single homeless males. Resident's receive a hot evening meal, breakfast and a packed lunch. The hostel amenities include showers, washing and laundry facilities, computer suite and TV room.

Counselling / Day Services
Stevenage Haven provide and run the day to day operational services, they also provide support and help to address the social and health needs of service users in order for them to “Move on “ to permanent accommodation. Those using the hostel are assessed for health or substance abuse issues. They are offered counselling, support and a means of referral for individual treatment.

Donating Money & Fundraising
This charity relies on fund-raising and donations to enable us to provide the extra facilities and services that our residents deserve.
Monetary donations are greatly welcome. They can be made through the Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving where you can make a one off donation, set up a standing order or organise a fundraiser.
Alternatively they can be made directly by cheque payable to North Herts Sanctuary, or by Standing Order, and sent to:

Taxpayers can make their donations more valuable to us via Gift Aid (get form here) as this provides us with an extra 25% on any sum given.

Donating Items and Food
Requirements for donations of food and material items vary from time to time but the following items are normally welcome -:
- Tea and coffee
- Sugar, Baked Beans, UHT milk, tinned fish
- Tins of fruit and custard
- Cereals and biscuits
- Non-perishable foodstuffs
- Male clothing
- New bed linen for single beds
- Towels, face cloths, toiletries including soap, shampoo, shower gel and deodorant etc
When our service users are able to move on to independent living we like to provide them with a Starter Kit which may include a kettle, toaster, iron or such essential items.

Volunteering
We are always grateful for any time volunteers can provide to help support our service users. We are usually in need of people to help with:
- Fund Raising Activities
- Publicity / PR
- DIY – indoor & outdoor
- Transportation
- Admin / Clerical
- Finance / Accounts

Trustees

Peter Warren
Peter was a research scientist with ICI, and is now retired. He has been a volunteer with the Charity since 2001, and was involved with the development of the services and the purchase of the premises in 2006.

Ray Shakespeare Smith
A teacher for 33 years Ray was a County Councillor and a District Councillors for 16 years. He is a trustee of several local charities and a Supervisor of The Black Squirrel Credit Union.

Grahame Williams
Grahame has a background in sales & marketing in property and HR and recruitment sectors. He is currently a qualified driving instructor and became a Trustee in April 2014.

Ian Chapman
Ian has a background in travel, tourism and operations having worked for TUI Travel Group for over 25 years both in the UK and Overseas. Ian is currently a board director at TUI Destination services and an Ambassador for the Holiday association charity.

Louise Wills
Louise is a Grade 6 civil servant and a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. She is currently a legal adviser in a Government department where she advises on a broad range of public law issues. Louise became a trustee in April 2016.
